Employment

Advanced Messenger Service offers fantastic job opportunities in three areas: bicycle messengers, driving messengers, and office staff. If you want to become part of a dedicated team, read on and contact us. AMS is an equal opportunity employer, and requires proof of citizenship. AMS is proud to stand apart from the competition in terms of employment. Most messenger services hire people to serve as independent contractors; AMS has employees. As an employee you are a tax payer and you do not have the IRS on your back. AMS picks up one half of the social security where as an independent contractor, you are liable for the full 15%! As an employee you are also eligible for full health benefits, workman's compensation and unemployment insurance.

If you are self-motivated, energetic, and understand that the harder you work, the more money you bring home, then you would be a great messenger. AMS hires both bicycle and driving messengers ages 21 and over. The AMS clientele is primarily the legal community, which means lots of rush services are requested, translating directly into more money for the messengers. In addition, AMS has the most technologically advanced dispatch system in the industry, which creates maximum efficiency both for clients and for messengers.

Bicycle Messengers

Needless to say, this job is tough unless you are in proper physical condition. If you have a bike, lock and helmet, you are ready to start. AMS bike messengers are provided with a safety vest and bicycle license, and are expected to maintain their own bicycles. Bikers also receive liability insurance, full workman's compensation, unemployment benefits, and are offered health insurance. Above all, bike messengers are offered a lot of work. They are expected to work at least 8 hours daily between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., and are 50% commissioned, so the harder they work, the more money they get.

The bike messengers' route area is bounded by Division Street on the north, Racine on the west, Roosevelt Road on the south, and, obviously, Lake Michigan on the east.

If you are interested in becoming a bicycle messenger, please call Mark at 312-942-3927 for an interview or email your credentials to  bicyclejobs@AdvancedMessenger.com.

Driving Messengers

If you are self-motivated, energetic, and have good geographical knowledge of the metropolitan Chicago, then becoming an AMS driving messenger is the job you're seeking. All AMS driving messengers need a valid driver's license to begin. These messengers have the option of using their own vehicle or an AMS vehicle. Those who plan to use their own vehicle are required to have $100,000 over $300,000 liability insurance on their vehicle. If AMS supplies the vehicles, all maintenance is paid for, and the driver works at a lower commission percentage. All driving messengers must supply a certificate of insurance.

These messengers receive full workman's compensation, unemployment benefits, and are offered health insurance. Driving messengers are expected to work at least 8 hours daily between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., and are 50% commissioned, meaning the harder they work, the more money they get.

Driving messengers work within Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana and Iowa. If you would like to come in for an interview, please call Mark at 312-942-3927 or email your credentials to drivingjobs@AdvancedMessenger.com.

Office Staff

Even in the office, AMS looks for people who are self-motivated. If you are aggressive and eager to advance, too, then AMS has a position for you. There are positions in Sales, Administration, and Operations. The Operations staff includes order takers, customer service representatives, dispatch assistants, and dispatcher.

The office is open from 5 a.m. until 9 p.m., and hours are negotiable. AMS provides health insurance for all office staff, as well as 5 personal days per year, all paid holidays, and paid vacation (1 week after 1 year, 2 weeks after 2 years, 3 weeks after 5 years). The office is located on Milwaukee Avenue just south of the Halsted, Milwaukee and Grand Avenue intersection.

If you are interested in becoming part of our office team, please call Bruce or Mark at 312-942-3927 or email your credentials to officejobs@advancedmessenger.com.
